Later in the quarter, Wilber's 29-yard run on third-and-10 set up a three-yard touchdown run by Peete with 3:44 left in the quarter to make it 14-0.

Following an interception and 27-yard return by sophomore defensive back Mark McGrath, sophomore kicker Wojciech Gasienica booted a 40-yard field goal with 9:42 remaining in the second quarter for a 17-0 lead.
