Geisel Named CC Player of the Week

LANCASTER, Pa.  – For the second time in his career, junior placekicker Justin Geisel (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Country Day) has been tagged the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week it was announced on Sunday, Oct. 7.
 
Geisel, who earned weekly laurels from the conference for the first time last fall, tied a program record by knocking four field goals through the uprights during Saturday's win over Juniata College. The junior's kicks covered 31, 38, 24, and 41 yards. He also added three extra-points for a career-high 15 points. Geisel tied the Gettysburg record for field goals made in a game set by Jim Flynn '86 against the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1984.
 
Geisel is perfect on field goals (8-8) and extra-point attempts (9-9) and leads the Centennial in made field goals this fall. He has hit seven field goals in the last two games and has connected on nine consecutive three-point tries dating back to last season.
 
With four games remaining on the season, Geisel is four field goals shy of tying the team's single-season record held by Flynn and Josh Huson '09. He is also just four shy of Huson (28) for second place on Gettysburg's career list.
 
Gettysburg (1-5, 1-4 CC) is on bye this week. The Bullets return to action against Johns Hopkins University (5-1, 4-1 CC) at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m.
