ANNVILLE Pa. – Stevenson University junior defensive back Hanif Jones was named the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) football Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday after the Mustangs defeated Albright 50-21 in their conference opener.

Jones had a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter of Saturday's victory.  The Mustangs led 22-21 and had just scored to take a 29-21 lead when Jones' pick six made it a two-score game midway through the quarter.  Jones also had three tackles in the game as Stevenson posted a second half shutout and held the Lion offense to 48 yards in the second half.  Jones had an interception for the second straight week.

On the season, Jones has a pair of interceptions and nine total tackles.

Stevenson (2-1, 1-0 MAC) travels to King's (Pa.) on Saturday, September 22 for a 1 pm conference contest.
