Memphis - Rhodes College head football coach Jim Ryan has announced that current assistant coach Chris DiLella has been promoted to Defensive Coordinator beginning immediately. DiLella replaces Brian Vaughn who is now at Florida Tech.
"Chris has produced in every possible way for our staff the last three seasons," said head coach Jim Ryan. "As our recruiting coordinator he has helped bring in a very talented class, our special teams have been very good under his watch, and his position group has performed at a very high level. Most importantly, Chris' loyalty, character, and work-ethic have all shined in his time on our staff."
DiLella has had a hand in multiple aspects of the Rhodes football program. He started with the Lynx in 2015 as the running backs coach and moved to recruiting coordinator, special teams coordinator and defensive line coach the last two seasons. He will continue to be the recruiting coordinator and work with the defensive line moving forward.
Most recently, members of DiLella's recruiting classes put together a total of 39 academic honorees within the Southern Athletic Association. Student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll must have maintained a 3.25 grade-point average for the 2017 fall term.
