UW-Whitewater's Kumerow Signed to Packers’ Practice Squad

Former University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football standout wide receiver Jake Kumerow has been signed to the practice squad of the Green Bay Packers, who announced the move earlier this week.

Kumerow, who played from 2012-14, helped the Warhawks win back-to-back national championships in 2013 and 2014. The team finished with a perfect 30-0 record and claimed Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles during both seasons.

A two-time All-American, Kumerow was named D3football.com National Offensive Player of the Year in 2014 after tallying 66 receptions for 1,116 yards and 14 touchdowns. He finished his three-year run as the program's all time leader in touchdown receptions and ranked second in receiving yards (2,648) and third in receptions (158).

Kumerow drew the attention of National Football League scouts during his UW-Whitewater career, earning an invite to the prestigious NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl in 2015 before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in May of the same year.

Kumerow spent his first two seasons on the Bengals' practice squad and was promoted to the active roster prior to Cincinnati's final game of the 2016 season. After being released by the organization in September, he was signed to the New England Patriots' practice squad in October before being released in November.

The Packers play their final game of the season this Sunday at noon at Detroit.

Kumerow will wear No. 16 for the Packers.
