Kalamazoo drops season opener at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College football team lost its season opener 24-6 at Oberlin College on Saturday.

The host Yeomen led 14-0 at halftime and 24-0 late in the third. Kalamazoo got on the board with 9:40 left in the fourth when Alex White connected with Dylan Padget for a 3-yard touchdown.

White finished 19-of-39 for 146 yards.

Zak Zagon led the Hornets with 57 yards on five catches. Seth Dexter had three catches for 28 yards.

Jared Pittman rushed for 21 yards on 11 carries while also pulling in four catches for 15 yards.

Jakob Frederick led the Hornet defense with 14 total tackles (13 solo), two pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Josh Vance and Clay Wilkey each recorded 11 tackles.

Kalamazoo plays its home opener against Wheaton (Ill.) next Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
