Tommies close out 10-0 regular season

No. 4-ranked St. Thomas had 15 tackles for loss and limited visiting St. Olaf to minus-7 net rushing yards in Saturday's 73-7 MIAC football win at Palmer Field in O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

The Tommies (10-0 overall, 8-0 MIAC) got touchdowns from eight different players and two 100-yard rushers as they locked up a solo MIAC title for the fifth time in the last seven seasons. UST also celebrated Senior Day for 26 Tommie graduating seniors.

UST will learn its NCAA playoff assigmnent on Sunday evening when the national 32-team field and brackets are announced. Coach Glenn Caruso's team is in the NCAA playoffs for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.

The Tommies made it 17 consecutive home wins, 20 wins in a row against conference opponents, 23 wins in a row in the regular season, and 24 consecutive Saturday victories.

The St. Thomas defense lowered its season scoring average to 12.0 and have allowed just two touchdowns in the last 14 quarters. They unit allowed just 128 net yards on the day and played their starters just two quarters.

Freshman Josh Parks had his third 100-yard rushing day as a non-starter this season. Parks had TD runs of 9 and 55 yards and closed with 141 yards on 11 carries. Sophomore Tucker Trettel added 106 yards on just 12 rushes.

Freshman Vinny Pallini had a rare sequence in the fourth quarter as he took a kickoff back 96 yards for a touchdown, then kicked the PAT point to record all seven points on the play.

Adam Brant had a 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble, and Anthony King-Foreman had three tackles for loss.
