Bears Fall in Final Home Game of Season

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Chris Lipscomb had eight receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns leading Endicott to a 28-17 win over Coast Guard in a New England Football Conference (NEFC) game.

Endicott improves to 4-5 overall and 4-2 in the NEFC while Coast Guard, playing its final home game of the season, drops to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Coast Guard struck first on the opening drive when senior quarterback Derek Victory threw a 69-yard touchdown pass to junior Darius Adams with 12:14 left in the first quarter, his team-high 12th of the season, and sophomore Cole Austin's extra point gave the Bears a 7-0 lead. I

The Gulls were forced to punt, but the ball bounced off a Coast Guard player and freshman Tanner Cornell recovered at the Bear 11. Freshman quarterback Joe Kalosky threw an 11-yard touchdown to Lipscomb with 7:34 left in the first quarter and freshman John Glaser's kick tied the game 7-7.

Endicott took the lead on a 3-yard run by freshman Hakim Fleming with 6:06 left in the first half and Glaser's kick made it 14-7. The big play in the drive was a 50-yard pass from Kalosky to Lipscomb down to the 10-yard line.

In the third quarter freshman Patrick Crowley intercepted Kalosky at the Coast Guard 15 and the Bears drove down to the Gulls 19 before turning it over on downs.

Austin booted a 36-yard field goal on his first career field goal attempt with 1:42 left in the third to pull the Bears to within 14-10. Victory's 30-yard pass to junior tight end Cody Bain on the first play of the drive was the big play.

The Gulls would march 67 yards in 12 plays capped on a 6-yard touchdown from Kalosky to Lipscomb with 10:48 left in the game for a 21-10 lead.

Endicott would put the game away on a 63-yard touchdown run by sophomore Dante Correa with 4:45 left to make the score 28-10.

Victory would throw a 9-yard touchdown pass to senior Kyle Jackson with 2:21 left as the Bears closed to within 28-17.

The Bears would recover an onsides kick, but did not get a first down turning it back over with 1:57 left.

Kalosky was 22 of 35 for 235 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Senior Thomas Connors had six receptions for 68 yards in the win as the Gulls finished with 410 yards of total offense. Correra had six carries for 95 yards to lead Endicott on the ground.

Victory was 29 of 53 for 310 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the final home game of his career. He eclipsed the 7,000 yard mark in his career finishing the game with 7,147 passing yards and 48 TD's with one game left in his career.

 Sophomore Jeff Porter had a career-high 11 receptions for 65 yards. Adams led the Bears with 94 yards on three catches. He now has 949 receiving yards this season, just 34 yards shy of the single-season school record of 983 set by Collis Brown in 2013. He already has a single-season school record 12 TD receptions this season.

Coast Guard closes out the season at NEFC Champion Western New England, the #1 team in New England on Saturday at 1:00.
