More news about: Muhlenberg

Allentown, Pa. - In his final scheduled home game, Nick Palladino accounted for six touchdowns, tying one record and breaking two others, to lead the Muhlenberg College football team to a 49-7 Centennial Conference win against Ursinus.

The win was the fifth straight for the Mules (8-1, 7-1) and gave the senior class, honored before the game on Senior Day, a program record-tying 33 wins over their four years.
Muhlenberg rolled up 535 yards of total offense and 31 first downs in topping the 40-point mark for the fourth straight game. The defense allowed only 170 yards and, for the fourth straight game, just one offensive touchdown. The Mules outscored their last four opponents by a 220-38 margin.
Palladino completed 20 of 27 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for 62 yards and a pair of scores. He tied the CC all-time record of 87 career touchdown passes while breaking school records for touchdowns responsible for in a game and career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (22).
Nick Savant gained 143 yards on 21 carries for his eighth consecutive 100-yard rushing game, going over 2,000 rushing yards for his career. Nick Lamb caught eight passes for 110 yards and a pair of scores.

Mike Luby and Matt Musilli each recorded a pair of sacks for the Muhlenberg defense.

The Mules needed only six plays to score the first points of the game. Ursinus received the opening kickoff, and on third down Luby forced a fumble with a sack of quarterback Thomas Garlick. Thomas Cosgriff recovered for Muhlenberg, and three plays later Palladino ran in from 11 yards out.

The score remained 7-0 until the Mules blew the game open with three second-quarter touchdowns.

Savant took a screen pass from Palladino and went 15 yards for a touchdown to cap a 10-play, 88-yard drive. After an Ursinus three-and-out and 20-yard punt return by Ryan Delaney, Palladino sneaked in from a yard out to finish off an eight-play, 44-yard drive.

After another punt, Muhlenberg took over at its 24 with 3:41 left in the half and needed just eight plays to cover the 76 yards, with Palladino finding Delaney in the end zone from 24 yards out to make it 28-0 with 53.1 seconds on the clock.

Like the Mules in the first half, the Bears (1-8, 1-7) scored their lone touchdown after an early turnover in the second half. Lamb fumbled on the second play of the third quarter, and three plays later Garlick connected with Jonathan Gerhartz for a 26-yard touchdown pass.

Muhlenberg responded with two Palladino-to-Lamb scoring passes, from 9 and 31 yards out.

Nick DeLucas capped the scoring with an 8-yard run in the fourth quarter.

John Feaster and Bobby Merle recorded interceptions for the Mules, who held Garlick to 83 yards on 11-of-25 passing.
