Alpine, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team dominated the second half once again as the Cru rolled to a 59-10 victory over Sul Ross State Saturday afternoon in Alpine. UMHB improves to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in American Southwest Conference play with the victory. The loss drops the Lobos to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the ASC on the season.

The Cru led just 17-10 at halftime before exploding in the second half. Markeith Miller caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Blake Jackson to make it 24-10 with 9:03 left in the third quarter. Isaiah Shepherd stripped the ball on the ensuing kickoff and returned it for another score. Jackson then hit Wykeyhe Walker with a 12-yard scoring strike to make it 38-10 at the end of the third quarter. Miller added a 43-yard TD run, Reggie Wilson returned a blocked punt 38 yards for a score and Kyle Jones hit Austin Collins with a seven-yard TD pass to close out the scoring.

Both teams kicked field goals after turnovers to make it 3-3 early in the game. Miller scored on a three-yard run to give the Cru a 10-3 lead. The UMHB defense stuffed the Lobos on fourth and goal from inside the Cru one-yard line and drove 99 yards before Jackson hit Duane Thompson with a 14-yard touchdown pass to make it 17-3. The Lobos only touchdown came on James Davis' four-yard scoring pass to Josh Vallejo to cut it to 17-10 at halftime.

UHMHB finished with 441 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers. The Cru threw for 349 yards. Sul Ross managed just 261 yards of total offense, but did force a pair of Cru turnovers.

Jackson finished with 342 yards and three touchdown passes. Miller ran for 61 yards and scored three total touchdowns. Walker caught five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown and became just the second UMHB receiver to go career 2,000 career yards. T.J. Josey added four catches for 181 yards. Tommy Brown had a team-high 13 tackles and Baylor Mullins became the Cru's all-time leader in interceptions when he picked off his 16th pass in the first quarter.
