ADRIAN, Mich.--Freshman quarterback Hunter Hamm had a stellar night in his first career start as Adrian College scored 31 unanswered points to win going away over visiting Kalamazoo, 31-13, inMichigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association football action on Saturday.

FOR ADRIAN
= Hamm completed 21 of 34 passes for 343 yards and he threw for two touchdowns--all career bests in his five-game collegiate career.
= Defensively, junior Jacob Davis had eight tackles--including 3-1/2 sacks for 24 yards--and 12 total tackles. He also excelled in returns with two kickoffs for 78 yards and three via punt for 44 yards.
= Junior Kyle Nutter ran the ball 24 times for 101 yards and a pair of two TDs (19 yards, 10).
= The Bulldogs had two 100-yard receivers in freshman Johnnyx Charlemagne, who hauled in a game- and career-high 143 on four catches, and sophomore Darius Philon, who had 103 yards on a game-best seven receptions.
= Sophomore Chris Adams (4 solo, 2 assisted) and senior Travis Joseph (2,4) both had six total tackles and a QB hurry.
THE OPPOSITION
= Seth Dexter led K-zoo with three catches for 57 yards. Dylan Padget also had three receptions for 40 yards.
= A.J. Convertino (2 recp., 22 yds.) scored the Hornets only TD on a 15-yard pass play from Alex White early in the fourth quarter.
= Sean Bauer led all players with 20 tackles, including 16 assists. Quentin Sweeney added 15 total on eight solo and seven assisted tackles.
= Andrew Thiede (3 solo, 6 total) had four quarterback hurries.
HOW IT HAPPENED
= After the teams played to a scoreless opening quarter, they combined for 20 points in a span of 12 minutes and 9 seconds in the second alone.
= Viet Nguyen converted a couple of field goals (26 and 39 yards) 3:14 apart in the second quarter to stake K-zoo to a 6-0 lead by the 10:35 mark.
= But on Adrian's next possession, Hamm engineered a nine-play, 73-yard scoring drive in 4:51 that culminated with a 19-yard TD rush by Nutter. The extra point by junior Cameron Cook put the Bulldogs ahead for good, 7-6, and was part of a 31-0 run to put the game out of reach.
= Sophomore Jerron McGaw (11 yarder at 1:40 of the second quarter) and Philon (32 yarder with 1:52 left in the third) each had a TD reception to tie Joey Koscielski for the AC lead with three apiece.
= Adrian also dominated several key statistical areas: time of possession (37:43 to 22:17), first downs (20-13), total return yards (166-35), total offense (494-213), passing yards (343-178) and rushing yards (151-35).
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
= Nutter's 19-yard go-ahead TD was his longest scoring rush this season.
= The Hornets came into the contest averaging 403 total yards and 302 yards passing, but the Bulldogs' defense held them to just 213 and 178 for their lowest output in four conference outings this fall.
= Adrian has won the last three meetings by a combined score of 86-34.
= Cook connected for a 49-yard field goal--the longest of his AC career--at the 7:35 mark of the third quarter.
= Adrian has won two-thirds of its games (20-10) in the month of October under Coach Jim Deere '89.
= Hamm is the first Bulldog to throw for 300 yards in a game since Aaron Tenney who went for 323 against Carthage during the 2012 campaign.
