Black and Gold upended in road back-to-back opener

More news about: Manchester

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Junior linebacker Jack Kay (Williamsport, Ind.) recorded his fourth double-digit tackle total of the year, and freshman quarterback Harrison Price (Auburn, Ind.) tallied his first collegiate touchdown, highlighting a 44-9 loss at the hands of Rose-Hulman Saturday, Oct. 15.

Kay wound up with 10 solo and two assisted tackles, one of which was for a Fightin' Engineer loss. He also forced home starting signal caller Austin Swenson into a hurry during the afternoon at Cook Stadium. Senior linebacker Nathan Birk (Indianapolis, Ind.) (eight); sophomore defensive back Dillon Nelson (Fairland, Ind.) (6); and junior defensive back Mitch Oskam (St. John, Ind.) (five) ended the contest with five-or-more tackles, too.

Offensively, a stout Rose-Hulman defensive unit held the Black and Gold (0-6 overall, 0-4 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) to 192 yards. Price's two-yard dive into the end zone, in the waning moments, wrapped up a 22-yard scoring drive following a fumble.

Manchester University returns to the road Saturday, Oct. 22. They take an eastern trip to Bluffton University of Ohio for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.

NOTES: Senior placekicker/punter Andrew Coe (Roanoke, Ind.) turned in impressive numbers. He averaged 45 yards per punt, burying four attempts inside the opposition's 20-yard line; hit his only extra point try; and averaged 54 yards per kickoff. His punt average included a personal long of 64 yards.
