(WAYNESBURG, Pa.) – The 14th-ranked Thomas More College football team rolled up 350 rushing yards today (Saturday, October 15, 2016) as it defeated Waynesburg University, 40-7, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Wiley Stadium in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 6-1 overall and remain undefeated in the PAC at 5-0.  With the loss, the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the PAC.

Thomas More never trailed in the game as it led 7-0 after one quarter, 10-0 at halftime and 31-7 after three quarters.

Thomas More took a 7-0 lead with 4:29 to play in the first quarter when junior quarterback Brenan Kuntz (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) connected on a 40-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Daylin Garland II (Newport, Ky./Newport) and first-year place kicker Cole Mathias (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) added the point-after-attempt.

Mathias gave the Saints a 10-0 lead heading into halftime as he made a 34-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.

The Saints extended the lead to 17-0 when senior running back C.T. Tarrant (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton) scored on a three-yard run and Mathias added the PAT with 12:25 to play in the third quarter.  Waynesburg's Ta'Vaughn Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yards  for a touchdown and Mike Ryhal added the PAT to cut the lead to 17-7. 

Kuntz scored on a 20-yard touchdown run and Mathias added the PAT with 10:29 to play in the third quarter to give Thomas More a 24-7 lead.  Thomas More increased the lead to 31-7 when Tarrant scored on a two-yard run and Mathias added the PAT with 4:39 to play in the third quarter.

With 13:15 to play in the game the Saints extended the lead to 38-7 when sophomore running back Luke Zajac (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) scored on a six-yard run and Mathias tacked on the PAT.  Junior defensive end Amadin Imade (Chicago, Ill./Sycamore (Ohio)) tackled a Yellow Jacket in the endzone for a safety to make the score 40-7 with 58-seconds to play in the game.

Thomas More out-gained Waynesburg 593 yards (350 rushing/243 passing) to 301 yards (29 rushing/272 passing).

Kuntz was 18-of-24 passing for 230 yards and one touchdown, while he also had six rushes for 59 yard and a touchdown.  Tarrant led the team on the ground as he had 16 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns and sophomore running back Hjavier Pitts (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mt. Healthy) had 13 carries for 90 yards.  Garland led the receiver corps with nine catches for 135 yards and a touchdown and sophomore wide receiver Logan Winkler (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) had four catches for 37 yards.

Junior linebacker Tre' Tunstill (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) led Saints' defense with 10 tackles (four solo/six assisted), including one tackle for a loss and senior linebacker Austin Copeleand (Cincinnati, Ohio/Kings) finished the team with six tackles (two solo, eight assisted), including one tackle for a loss.

Thomas More remains on the road next Saturday (October 22) as it travels to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to play Saint Vincent College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Chuck Noll Field.
