JACKSON, Miss. -- Improving their winning streak to seven games, the Berry College football team defeated Millsaps College, 24-14, on Saturday afternoon.

Berry improved to 7-1 and 6-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Majors fell to 1-7 and 0-6.

Dale Jackson (7-of-17, 83 yards) ran the ball 31-yards for the first Vikings' touchdown. Followed byMitchell Blanchard's PAT, BC led 7-0 by the end of the first quarter.

The game then was halted due to inclement weather for nearly two hours.

The Majors returned with energy. Chance Clowers (16-of-34, 135 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INT) tossed two-second quarter touchdowns. One went to Beau Wells for 13 yards and the other to Sims Rashad for eight yards. With Patrick McRaney's two extra points, the Majors went ahead, 14-7--a lead they would keep at the half.

After halftime, the Vikings rallied with the game's last 17 points. Austin Lowe (17 Att, 89 yds, 1 TD) opened up the third quarter with a one-yard run for the second BC touchdown of the day. Blanchard tacked on an extra point and the score moved to 14-14.

Blanchard added a 34-yard field goal and the Vikes finished the third quarter ahead, 17-14.

Matt Farinella (7 tackles, 1 INT) intercepted a Clowers' pass, returning it 10-yards for a touchdown. Blanchard's final PAT of the game ensured the Vikes' 24-14 victory.

Anthony Batey led the BC defense, collecting eight tackles on the afternoon.

Jalen Tuggle had 86 yards on 28 carries for the Vikings. Berry led in total offense, 260 to 240 yards.

"I thought our team did a great job handling adversity today," said Berry Head Coach Tony Kunczewski. "I'm proud of our guys; they've been battling like this all year."
