Millikin Football Defeats North Park

          The Millikin football team defeated North Park University 20-17 on October 24 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.

          North Park opened the scoring on its first possession scoring on a three yard run by Filo Langkilde.

          Millikin answered back later in the quarter with a 22 yard field goal by Chayce Volpert.

          The Vikings went up 14-3 early in the second quarter when T.D. Conway connected with Devin Childress on an 11 yard pass.

          Millikin made it a 14-10 game when Nicco Stepina hit Cameron Mammen on a 29 yard pass with 7:17 left in the first half.

          The Vikings then got a 29 yard field goal from Noah Moore and took a 17-10 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

          Millikin did all of the scoring in the second half.  The Big Blue tied the game with 6:11 left in the third on an 18 yard pass from Stepina to Mammen.

          The Big Blue took the lead for good on a 31 yard field goal from Volpert.

          Stepina was 28-38-2 passing for 334 yards.  Mammen had eight catches for 118 yards.  Brady Cufaude also had eight catches for 111 yards.

          Marquis Spears rushed for 66 yards on 12 carries to lead the Big Blue rushing attack.

          Conway was 25-48-2 passing for 236 yards.  Childress led the Viking receivers with eight catches for 108 yards. 

          Demetreeus Loper led the Millikin defenders with 15 tackles.  Isaiah Tate had 10 tackles.  Danny Beresky and Kyle McMahon had interceptions for the Big Blue.

          Nick French led North Park with nine tackles and one interception.

          Both teams are now 2-5, 1-3.

          The Big Blue hit the road the next two weeks starting on Oct. 31 at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
