More news about: DePauw

Greencastle, Ind. - For the first time in school history, DePauw rushed for over 300 yards and passed for over 300 yards in the same game as the Tigers moved to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 50-0 win over Allegheny. The Gators dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the NCAC.

DePauw matched a school record with 33 first downs and posted the second-best total offense mark in school history with 637 yards. The defense posted its second shutout of the season which is something that the Tigers haven't done since the 1985 team blanked three foes.

Allegheny's only penetration into the Tigers' red zone came on its second series, but BenZiolkowski's 36-yard field goal attempt was blocked by DePauw's Joel Kauth and the Tigers' offense then went to work. They needed just seven plays to cover 86 yards with Matt Hunt tossing an 18-yard pass to Jake Hagan to make it 7-0.

The Tigers then scored on three consecutive possessions as Matt Hunt tossed a 14-yard scoring pass to Ian Good, before keeping it himself for a 6-yard score to make it 21-0 with 5:43 left in the third. Jason Kirchhoff's 39-yard run with 2:15 left in the half boosted the Tigers' lead to 28-0.

Marko Adams booted a 24-yard field goal less than four minutes into the third quarter before Matt Hunt scored again from the 6 to make it 38-0 with 6:15 remaining in the third.

DePauw wrapped up the scoring in the fourth as Matt Labus tossed his first collegiate touchdown pass on an 83-yard connection with Andy Hunt. That marked the second straight week that Andy Hunt was on the receiving end of an 83-yard scoring pass. Ramon Lopez reached paydirt with 1:28 left on a 6-yard run.

Kirchhoff rushed for 117 yards in 11 attempts for his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season, while Lopez totaled 72 yards in 11 tries. The Tigers finished with 304 yards on 48 carries.

Matt Hunt completed 21-of-30 passes for 244 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Andy Hunt caught seven for 177 yards, while Hagan had six for 95. Labus was 2-for-2 for 92 yards and one score.
