ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Dan Bronson tied a school record with four touchdown passes – all in the first quarter – as the University of Rochester defeated Alfred State College, 61-0, at Edwin Fauver Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Bronson hit five of seven passes for 216 yards. He also ran five times for 54 net yards and another TD – a 16-yard keeper that opened the scoring just two minutes into the game.

Farid Adenuga caught two of the scoring strikes (28 yards and 59 yards). Derek Wager had a 35-yard scoring catch with 6:05 left in the quarter and Luke Szumski hauled in a 72-yard catch-and-run score with 1:13 left in the period.

The other Rochester touchdowns were a three-yard run by Bruce McKenty (the team's everyday center), a five-yard pass from Justin Redfern to David Angie, and two short scoring runs by Malik Wells (one yard and two yards).

Rochester (2-0) rolled up 565 yards in offense – 265 on the ground, 300 through the air. Ten Yellowjackets rushed the ball – all for positive yardage. Redfern, the backup quarterback, led all rushers with 55 yards on six carries.

For Alfred State (0-3), Joshua Hinds rushed 17 times for a net of 52 yards. Quarterback Ben Wilkerson completed 17 of27 passes for 80 yards. He was sacked six times. Rochester had 13 tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Alfred State had a negative 19 net yards rushing. Khris Greggs caught eight passes for ASC for 24 yards. Alfred State is in its third year as a provisional Division III member of the NCAA.

Bronson's four TDs tied the record held by Bob Young (1967 vs. RPI), Greg Conrad (1971 vs. Washington [MO]), Dave Boyce (1988 vs. Denison), Kapps Killingstad (2006 vs. Gettysburg), Patrick Keegan (2008 vs. St. Lawrence),  and Braezen Subick (2011 vs. Union).

The nine touchdowns tied a school record set in 1959 vs. Union. The 61 points are the most scored by Rochester in a game since October 10, 1959 vs. Union (a 62-8 win in Schenectady).
