POSTGAME INTERVIEW WITH HEAD COACH KEVIN DEWALL

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott football team dropped a 42-6 decision in its 2015 season opener against Framingham State University on Saturday afternoon at Endicott Stadium.

Quarterback Matt Silva (Dracut, Mass.) was the difference in today's non-conference victory for the Rams as the senior signal caller compiled six touchdowns – five through the air and one on the ground – to push Framingham State's winning streak over the Gulls to three straight games (2013-15). Silva completed 29 of his 35 passing attempts for 261 yards alongside zero interceptions.

Prior to the Rams' current winning streak, Endicott earned four consecutive triumphs over Framingham State from 2009-12 outscoring its opposition 126-62.

Framingham State jumped out to a 21-0 lead nearly halfway through the second quarter as Silva threw three TD passes (19 yards, 16 yards, 4 yards) and the Rams never looked back.

ENDICOTT OFFENSE

  • Chris Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) highlighted the Gulls on the afternoon as the junior wide receiver caught three passes including an 11-yard touchdown grab over his defender in the left corner of the end zone at the six minute mark of the second quarter (21-6, failed PAT).
  • Lipscomb also averaged 34.3 yards per punt over six attempts in the loss, and registered a pair of first down runs on two separate fourth-and-long punting situations.
  • Junior wideout Jake Pelletier (Trumbull, Conn.) led the squad with five receptions for 52 yards including a 30-yard diving catch near the left sideline that helped set up Lipscomb's eventual second quarter touchdown.
  • Quarterback Joe Picard (Essex Junction, Vt.) completed 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 143 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

FRAMINGHAM STATE OFFENSE

  • Senior Jared Gauthier (Dracut, Mass.) paced all receivers with 92 yards on 11 catches and two scores.
  • Classmate Tevin Jones (Springfield, Mass.) finished with eight catches, 78 yards and two scores, while sophomore Mike Calicchio (Chelmsford, Mass.)grabbed his second career receiving touchdown with 4:38 to play in the first quarter (14-0).
  • Senior running back Trevon Offley (Brockton, Mass.) amassed 84 yards on the ground on just 10 carries.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Framingham State senior punter Sean Wlasuk (Peabody, Mass.) placed three of his four punt attempts inside the 20 to aid the Rams in the field position matchup. He also drilled two touchbacks on kickoffs (61.7 yards per kick).
  • The Gulls were held to under 300 yards of total offense for the first time since their 14-13 win over Coast Guard last season on October 25.
  • Silva has now thrown for five touchdowns in a game twice in his career. His only other five passing touchdowns in a single-game came against Worcester State University during his freshman season on November 3, 2012.
  • Framingham State Sophomore linebacker Svenn Jacobson (Cumberland, Maine) led all student-athletes in tackles with a career-high 11 stops (five solo, six assist). During his freshman year, Jacobson only recorded double-digit tackles in one contest (10 vs. Fitchburg St.)

BE A POSITIVE INFLUENCE

  • Freshman inside linebacker William Rivera (Orangeburg, N.Y.) and senior cornerback Lawrence Gonzalez (Bedford, Mass.) tied for the team-high in tackles with nine each.
  • Senior free safety Ryan Brannigan (East Greenwich, R.I.) finished third on the squad with seven tackles (five solo, two assist).
  • Junior outside linebacker Connor McLaughlin (Canton, Mass.) and classmate Rasheed Adigun (Salem, N.H.) both forced one fumble.
