GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University football team shut
out Kean University, 13-0 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference
(NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs are 6-3 overall with a 5-1 NJAC mark. Rowan will play
for its second consective NJAC Championship next Friday. By virtue
of Morrisville State's victory over Montclair State, the Profs will
win a three-way tie with the Mustangs and the Red Hawks and will
earn their second straight trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs
with a win next week vs. rival TCNJ.
The Cougars drop to 2-7 and they are 2-4 in the conference.
Running back Dante
Tobler (so. New Milford, NJ/New Milford) rushed for 66
yards and one touchdown on 22 carries. Running back Jahsiem
Rover (fr. Burlington Twp., NJ/Burlington Twp.) added 63
yards on 21 attempts. Quarterback Bill
McCarty (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) went
10-for-14 for 129 yards. Wide receiver Warren
Oliver (sr. Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) caught six passes for 78
yards.
The Rowan defense allowed just 111 total yards, its lowest total
of the season. It is also the third straight year that the Profs
have recorded at least two shutout victories. Linebackers Darren
Dungee (jr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) and Vinny
Simone (sr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) had nine and
eight tackles respectively. Dungee also forced a fumble. Linebacker

Jenkins (sr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury) made six stops.
Defensive end Chris
Alvarez (sr. Cliffside Park, NJ/Cliffside Park) recorded
one sack (10 yards). Cornerback Eddie
Davis (jr. Camden, NJ/Camden) had an interception and
defensive backs Rashad
Adams (jr. Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy Vo-Tech) and
Bobby
Barbieri (so. Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton) each recovered a
fumble.
For Kean, quarterback Robert Meade (jr. Colonia, NJ/Bishop Ahr)
completed six passes for 71 yards. Running back Will Ingram (sr.
Linden, NJ/Linden) ran for 32 yards on nine attempts. Wide receiver
Brandon Robinson (sr. Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp.) caught a 52-yard
pass.
Defensive lineman Matt Jamison (sr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.)
recorded 12 tackles and linebacker Corey Miller (sr. Ridgefield
Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) had 11. Miller had one tackle for a loss
(4 yards) and forced a fumble. Linebacker Stephan Lewis (so.
Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and defensive lineman Nick Gjoni
(jr. Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) tallied 10 tackles apiece. Defensive
lineman Tom Winters (so. Brick, NJ/Brick) registered 2.5 tackles
for a loss (9 yards). Defensive backs Joe Drossel (sr. Wantage,
NJ/High Point Reg.) and James Leavy (sr. Bayonne, NJ/Monsignor
Farrell (NY)) each intercepted a pass.
The Profs scored on their opening drive when Tobler dove into the
end zone for a two-yard touchdown. The play concluded an 11-play,
68-yard drive in which Rover gained 23 yards on six carries. Kicker

Knighton's (fr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) extra point gave
Rowan a 7-0 lead with 7:38 left in the first quarter. Knighton
converted a 31-yard field goal to end a nine-play, 47-yard drive
and the Profs led 10-0 with 9:07 remaining in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Rowan increased its lead to 13-0 after a
26-yard field goal by Knighton (6:54).
Rowan ends the regular season at The College of New Jersey on
Friday, November 14 at 7 p.m.
