COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus moved to 5-0 for the second straight season, blanking Moravian on Saturday afternoon by a 24-0 score.

The Bears, now 4-0 in the Centennial as the conference hits the bye week, pitched a shutout for the first time since blanking Susquehanna 36-0 back on October 19, 2012.

Senior running back Taylor Paul (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) accounted for two touchdowns, scoring on runs of 7 and 23-yards, while junior fullback Nick Pustizzi (Pittsgrove, N.J./Arthur P. Shalick) scored on a 1-yard dive in the first half. Paul finished with 94 yards on 21 carries.

Junior kicker Eric Boyer (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) kicked a 33-yard field goal in the first quarter, to give the Bears an early lead.

Senior quarterback Kevin Monahan (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) passed for 220 yards on 23-for-37 with six passes going to sophomore wide receiver Matthew Raymond (Pottstown, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), and Paul.

The defense had seven sacks, and 11 tackles for losses of 35 yards on the day, with junior linebacker James Roccograndi (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) and senior defensive back Matt Glowacki (Spring City, Pa./Spring-Ford) each having eight tackles. Junior defensive back Kyle Adkins (Holland, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and junior defensive end Steve Ambs (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) each had two sacks.

Adkins also had an interception, while sophomore linebacker Tim Rafter (Springfield, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) picked up one as the Bears pushed their turnover margin to +14.

For Moravian, freshman Eli Redmond rushed for 78 yards, while sophomore quarterback Mike Hayes threw for 104 yards on 9-for-19 passing. Sophomore Liam Nolan had two catches for 58 yards.

Senior linebacker Ed Buoye finished with a game-high ten tackles for the Greyhounds.

Ursinus scored on its second drive of the game, going 40-yards in eight plays, with Boyer's 33-yard field goal capping the drive with 5:23 left.

The Bears went up 10-0 in the second quarter, when Ursinus ate up 7:24 of the quarter on a 16-play, 86-yard drive with Pustizzi's 1-yard run ending it at 3:16 left. Moravian would get all the way down to the Bears' 16-yard line with under 30 seconds left but turned the ball over on downs.

In the third quarter, Paul scored after a 54-yard, seven-play drive with 2:18 left for a 17-0 lead. Paul's 7-yard run was his first of the day.

On Moravian's next drive, Hayes was intercepted by Rafter at the Moravian 49 setting up the Bears with good field position.

Moravian would get one more good shot at the end zone in the fourth quarter, but, freshman quarterback Kordell Theadford was intercepted in the end zone by Adkins to kill the drive with 13:09 left.

Paul would score his second touchdown of the game with 8:45 left on a 23-yard run to make the final score 24-0.
