BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan football team lost its College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener, 20-10, to Carthage at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Junior Michael Kelley hit on a 28-yard field goal with :02 left in the first half after missing a 41-yarder earlier in the first half.

The Red Men scored twice in the second quarter on a 2 yard run by Jonnie Evans (8:37) and a 3 yard pass from Nick Anzelmo to Jamahl Wright (4:30). Carthage's other score was also on an Evans run from 2 yards out with 9:27 to play in the game that capped an 11-play, 95-yard drive.
Evans finished with 97 rushing yards on 16 carries and Anzelmo completed 22 of 32 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown. Will Fairchild had seven tackles to lead Carthage.
