Athletic director Peggy Carl announced today that football coach Chris Brann has resigned his position effective immediately. Brann recently finished his eighth season with the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers were 21-59 in Brann's tenure.

He came to Beloit from Carleton in 2006, where he had served as head coach for five seasons.

"Chris and his staff worked hard for the football program and Beloit College," said Carl.  "Chris is taking this opportunity to pursue other professionaql avenues and to spend time with his family.  We appreciate his efforts and wish him and his family the very best in the future."

A 1991 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan, Brann coached 50 All-Midwest Conference performers during his time at Beloit, including 11 first-teamers. Included among the honorees were 2010 co-MWC Defensive Player of the Year Tony Baratti; record-setting quarterback Brian Maughn; and wide receiver Derek Carrier, currently a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, and the first Beloit football player to be on an NFL active roster.

A nationwide search for Brann's replacement will begin immediately.  The Buccaneers' current assistant coaches remain at the college and will continue to run the program during the search.
