WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg football team (6-2 overall, 4-1 IIAC) fell 24-10 to Iowa Conference opponent, Coe (5-2, 3-2) Saturday.
The game was scoreless through halftime.
Sophomore Brandon Domeyer (Manchester) had 106 yards in the first half alone to mark his third 100-yard game of the season. He finished with 127 yards.
The Kohawks were the first team to strike as they made a 22-yard field goal with 7:41 remaining in the third.
The Knights answered on their ensuing drive and as they compiled an eight-play 55-yard drive that ended with a 24-yard field goal by sophomore Michael Bohlke (Manchester).
Coe took the 10-3 lead on its next drive as Colton Storla had a 16-yard touchdown run.
The Kohawks extended their lead to 17-3 on their first drive in the fourth quarter as Elijah Phillips caught an 11-yard pass from Josh Rekers.
Wartburg's defense blocked Chase Cooling's punt and senior Jared Wauters (Elberon) ran the ball in from 20-yards out to make the score 17-10 with 4:21 remaining.
Coe scored for the final time on its next drive on a 36-yard pass.
Senior Taylor Jacobsmeier (Wapello) finished with 210 yards through the air. Sophomore Jordan Schmitt (West Union) was the team's leading receiver as he had eight catches for 112 yards for the first 100-yard game of his career.
The Knights return to action next week when they host Central at 1 p.m.
