Four Former Yeomen Named to the NCAC All-Decade Team

More news about: Oberlin

Westlake, Ohio – Former Oberlin College football greats R.V. Carroll '09, Danny Enright '12, Clay Eaton, and Chris Schubert '08 were named to North Coast Athletic Conference All-Decade Team (2003-2012), the conference office announced on Monday.

"This is obviously a tremendous honor for these four young men," Head Coach Jeff Ramsey said. "To have been a part of their development as both football players and as people truly means a lot to me. Each of them worked extremely hard in everything they did and lived by the Yeomen motto of 'always compete'. I can't thank them enough for their contributions to the program."

Carroll (2005-2008) is remembered as one of the greatest running backs in school history. A former NCAC Offensive Player of the Year, he departed Oberlin as the school's all-time leading rusher with 3,505 yards. In 2006 he rushed for a single-season school-record total of 1,280 yards. The following season he racked up 1,038 yards, which ranks third all-time. The records don't stop there as he has three of top five best single-game performances, including a school-record effort of 336 yards in a, 56-42, win over Kenyon College on November 4, 2006.  Carroll also owns school records for rushing touchdowns in a game (5), rushing touchdowns in a season (16/2007) and rushing touchdowns in a career (39). Furthermore he is the career leader in points in a game (30), in a season (98/2007) and a career (250).

Enright was the league's dominate tight end between 2008-11. In his career he caught 91 passes for 928 yards and nine touchdowns, while playing in all 40 games. A native of Novi, Michigan, Enright was a First-Team All-NCAC selection as a senior in 2011. However, statistically his best season was his junior year when he led all NCAC tight ends in yards per game (49) and touchdowns (5). On September 25, 2010 against Hiram he turned in a career-best game with 127 yards and a touchdowns on seven catches.

Eaton just concluded his four-year playing career as the school's all-time sacks leader and will be finishing his degree this coming fall while assisting the team as a student coach. This past season he was named as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-America honors from three different organizations, including first-team accolades from the American Football Coaches Association. This past fall he led the nation in sacks with 17. In all, he totaled 22.5 tackles for a loss, which was good for fifth in the country. The Findlay, Ohio, native racked up school-record totals of 36.5 sacks and 58 tackles for a loss during his illustrious four-year career in which he played all 40 games.

Schubert, who was named to the All-Decade Team as a return specialist, was also one of the most dynamic wide receivers in school history. The local Oberlin native is the school record holder with 2,867 kickoff return yards and 566 punt return yards. He also had five return touchdowns over his four-year career, which spanned from 2004-2007. As a pass catcher he is the school's all-time leader with 2,536 receiving yards. He also ranks second all-time in career receptions (201) and single-game receptions (14).  In his career, Schubert accounted for 32 touchdowns for the Yeomen.

In addition to the NCAC All-Decade team, the conference office also released its annual Preseason Coaches' Poll today. The Yeomen were selected ninth in the poll with 33 total points. Wittenberg University received eight of the 10 first-place votes to lead the poll with 97 total points.

Oberlin begins its season on Sunday, September 15, when it welcomes local rival Case Western Reserve to town for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
