Oberlin, Ohio – All-American defensive end Clay Eaton has been selected to appear in the February 4 edition of Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd section. The magazine, which hit newsstands and subscribers mailboxes today (Jan. 31), features Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis on the cover.
Eaton, a native of Findlay, Ohio, is being recognized for the amazing the season he put together on the gridiron for the Yeomen this fall. The senior was named as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year and went to earn All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association, D3Football.com, and the Beyond Sports Network.
He rewrote the record book during his time at Oberlin, as he will graduate this spring as the school's all-time sack leader (36.5), single-season sacks leader (17) and all-time leader in tackles for a loss (58).
Later today, the online link featuring Eaton and the other selections will be posted here.
Eaton is the second Oberlin College athlete to be featured in Faces in the Crowd in recent years as former baseball player and 2011 graduate Ben Puterbaugh appeared in the April 26, 2010 edition, which you can view here.
