Choctaws Wrap Up Season with Loss to #2 Mary Hardin-Baylor

BELTON, Texas --- The Mississippi College (2-8, 1-6 ASC) football team finished up the 2012 season with a 59-0 loss to #2 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (10-0, 7-0 ASC) on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium.

Junior Keith Villafranco kept his strong season going with 10 tackles, including seven solo stops, and two tackles for loss.  The Kenner, La. native also picked off his fifth pass of the season, only the second thrown by UMHB quarterback LiDarral Bailey this season.

Freshman quarterback Stacey Dillard led the MC offense with 186 passing yards to go along with 21 rushing yards.  Freshman Otis Smith tallied 51 yards on the ground to lead the team.

Senior wide receiver Fred Williams finished his career with his best day as a Choctaw, catching four passes for a team-high 71 yards.  Senior Blake Rome also wrapped up his career with a big day, recording nine tackles and one for loss.

On the first possession of the game, the Choctaws blocked a UMHB field goal, their second of the season.

The Cru got on the board in the first quarter when Bailey found Chris Wimby for a five-yard score to take a 7-0 lead.  Bailey would open the second quarter with a 29-yard scoring run to push the lead to 14-0.

UMHB rushed for 455 yards, overall, led by Darius Wilson with 113 yards on eight carries with one touchdown.  Bailey rushed for 84 yards and threw for 145.

Also playing their final games as Choctaws were seniors:  Chris Campbell, Brennan Herrmann, Cody Saxton, Dominick Puckett, Justin McClinton and Stephen Smith.
