More news about: Presentation

Aberdeen, SD

It was a back and forth struggle at Swisher Field, Saturday 10/27/12. The PC Saints Football Squad hosting St. Scholastica in a game that needed overtime to complete. In the end, the visitors came away with the final points of the game for a 20-17 overtime win.

St. Scholastica scored on their first possession of the game to take a 7 nothing first quarter lead. They doubled that lead in the second quarter. Tyler Harper throwing a touchdown pass to Corey Gebhardt, capping off a 72 yard drive for a 14-0 lead. PC would respond with a 14 play, 57 yard drive that ended with a Gavin Voss 27 yard field goal making it a 14-3 game at the half.

PC struck quickly in the third quarter. Junior QB Stephen Braswell directing a 46 yard scoring drive, finishing it off by finding Senior WR Jalani James in the endzone to cut the deficit to 4, 14-10. In the process, Braswell became the program's all time passing yards leader, moving ahead of Cullen O'Brien with 1,676 career passing yards. Braswell would add another touchdown later in the third when he found Will Vealy for a five yard score, and with it a 17-14 PC lead. Head Coach Andy Carr expecting that type of production coming out of the locker room. "They knew they would be playing a great defense, and knew we were going to have to earn what we got. We want opportunities to make plays and when we get a one-on-one opportunity we have to beat their man and we did that."

St. Scholastica would drive to the PC 6 yard line early in the 4th quarter, but O'Brien and Josh Boyda came up with some big stops, the two combined came up with 24 tackles. Scholastica settled for a Max Theismann field goal to tie the game at 17. Theismann had a chance to put his team ahead with just 18 seconds to go, but missed a 21 yarder wide right.

PC would get the ball first in OT, but would miss a chance to take the lead. Voss pushing a 34 yard field goal attempt just left. Scholastica would get their chance for the win, and this time Theismann would put it through the uprights from 25 yards out for the win.

PC wraps up their 2012 campaign Saturday, 11/3/12 when they host Trinity Bible College on Senior Day. Kick off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
