More news about: Albright
By Jimmy McCumber

The Albright College football team scored the first 41 points of the game as the Lions cruised to a 41-10 Homecoming victory over King's College, Saturday in Shirk Stadium.

Albright's quarterbacks were a perfect 9-of-9 in the first half as the Lions scored touchdowns on their first four drives. TJ Luddy was 9-of-10 for 241 yards and three TDs, while Adam Galczynski went 3-for-4 for 50 yards.

Scott Pillar had another outstanding game, catching five balls for 150 yards and two scores. Fullback and fellow fifth-year senior Marty Reinhardt rushed for 34 yards and two touchdowns. Junior Daniel McNair caught three passes for 84 yards (one TD).

The defense looked to grab a second consecutive shutout and held King's scoreless into the fourth quarter. Senior Tim McCaffrey continued to play well, equaling a team-high seven tackles and intercepting a pass, the fourth turnover he's been involved in over the last three weeks.

Also on defense, sophomore cornerback Chris Stephens had seven tackles, and freshman Mike Walsh had two sacks on the same fourth-quarter drive. Senior captain Matt Pattison had a sack and recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

Less than four minutes into the game, Luddy threw a comeback route to Pillar, who cut under the cornerback to score from 22 yards. Luddy soon hit McNair on a deep route to McNair for 42 yards down to the eight-yard line, and Reinhardt bullied into the end zone for a quick 14-0 lead.

Reinhardt scored again early in the second quarter, from 11 yards out. King's had a fourth-and-1 in Albright territory but quarterback Tyler Hartranft was tripped up by his lineman.

Albright scored again in just three plays, as Luddy hit Pillar for 38 yards, and then threw a jump ball to the senior, who pulled it down for a 25-yard score.

The Lion defense made some big plays to keep King's scoreless going into halftime. Matt Filosa chased down Dan Kempa from behind to prevent a score, and the Monarchs failed on another fourth-and-short. Stephens had three tackles and a pass breakup in a four-play stretch, and McCaffrey's interception with 52 seconds left in the second quarter ended another threat.

On 3rd-and-22 from the 35 yard line, Luddy went over the top to McNair and the junior made a great catch in the end zone for a 35-0 lead. Luddy then found Pillar for 54 yards on the first play of the ensuing drive.

Albright was stuffed three times from the one-yard line, but Hartranft then collided with his teammate and fumbled a ball that was eventually recovered by Pattison in the end zone.

Hartranft found Adam Kudlacik for 54 yards late in the third quarter. The play was chased down by Drew Peterson and Steffen Wilkens, but Hartranft went into the end zone on a sneak to break the shutout on the opening play of the first quarter.

Albright improves to 5-2, 4-2 with an emphatic Homecoming victory, and will travel to Widener next weekend. The Pride are currently ranked 14th in the nation and scored two touchdowns in the final five minutes to beat Lycoming 28-23 today, putting themselves in the driver's seat for the MAC title.
