CARLISLE, PA - Senior Jonathan Rigaud rushed for 130 yards and tied a Johns Hopkins record with four rushing touchdowns as the 18th-ranked Blue Jays rolled past host Dickinson, 49-0, Saturday afternoon at Biddle Field. This is the sixth time in school history that a player has rushed for four touchdowns in a game.

Johns Hopkins (6-0, 5-0 Centennial) ran its regular season winning streak to 20 games, its Centennial Conference winning streak to 18 games and its road winning streak to 10 games. All three of those marks are school records.

It took Rigaud and the Blue Jays little time to take control as he scored on runs of six and 10 yards before the game was four minutes old. The touchdowns were set up by the Blue Jay defense and special teams, which blocked a punt and recovered a fumble on Dickinson's first two possessions.

After the Devils failed to generate a first down on the opening possession of the game, senior Adam Schweyer got free on the outside and blocked an Adam Kaminski punt that bounced out of bounds at the Red Devil six yard line. It took Rigaud and the Blue Jays just one play to cover those six yards as he raced untouched up the middle to open the scoring less than 90 seconds into the game.

Things went from bad to worse for DC on its next possession as quarterback Cole Ahnell was sacked by Michael Longo on second down and fumbled the ball away at the Red Devil 21. Four plays later Rigaud powered in from 10 yards out to give the Blue Jays a 14-0 lead with 11:40 remaining in the first quarter.

The 14-0 lead held until midway through the second quarter, when the Blue Jays scored on back-to-back possessions to double the lead before halftime.

Rigaud capped an 11-play, 70-yard drive with a one-yard scoring run to make it 21-0. Only once were the Blue Jays forced into a third-down situation on the drive and Rigaud accounted for 37 of the 70 yards on the drive.

Any hopes for a Dickinson rally were dashed late in the second quarter when the Blue Jays moved 80 yards in seven plays to push the lead to 28-0. The Devils went three-and-out after Rigaud's one-yard scoring run had made it 21-0 and gave the ball back to Hopkins with just over five minutes remaining. A 52-yard pass from junior Robbie Matey to classmate Dan Wodicka jump-started the drive and moved the ball from the JHU 10 to the Dickinson 38. Six plays later Matey found senior A.J. Safialone in the middle of the field from 10 yards out to make it 28-0.

The Blue Jays tacked on a five-yard scoring run by junior JD Abbott and a six-yard touchdown run from Rigaud in the third quarter and a 65-yard touchdown pass from Braden Anderson to Jared Beekmanin the fourth to close out the scoring.

While the offense generated 533 yards on the day, the Blue Jay defense came up with another strong outing as it generated three sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries and held the Devils to 272 yards of total offense, including just 91 in the second half. Schweyer, who opened the game with the blocked punt, totaled eight tackles, as did freshman Keith Corliss.

Rigaud's 130 yards led a ground game that accounted for 207 yards and five touchdowns, while Matey was 19-of-26 for 261 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Wodicka had six receptions for 111 yards, while Bob D'Orazioadded six catches of his own for 78 yards.

Ahnell and Mike Carmella combined to go 18-of-34 for 135 yards with the two interceptions for Dickinson (2-4, 2-3 CC). Shawn Wilson did an effective job running the ball for Dickinson as he rushed eight times for 61 yards, but the four turnovers and blocked punt were more than the Devils could overcome in falling to the Blue Jays for the sixth straight time.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Friday, October 19 when the Blue Jays host Gettysburg (5-1, 4-1 CC) in a key Centennial Conference showdown. The Bullets fell at Muhlenberg, 35-31, on Saturday.
