Husson Bulldogged by Adrian

More news about: Husson

Husson lost the first game of the 2011 season 77-7 to Adrian. The Eagles welcomed Adrian to Bangor by opening the flood gates, letting up 667 yards to the visiting Bulldogs. The Eagle offense was stagnant for most of the game, picking up just over a hundred yards of total offense in the game. The lone Husson highlight came with 2:30 left to go in the game, when Kash Keezer (Orono, ME) found Audie Murphy (Biddeford, ME) in the back corner of the end zone for a 17 yard touchdown reception on a 4th and goal.

Adrian scored on their first three possessions of the game and took a 21-0 lead out of the 1st quarter. They put up four more scores in the second half to take a 49 point lead into the locker room. The Bulldogs scored another TD on their first possession of the third to stretch their lead to 56 before Husson got on the board. Adrian added another in the third and two more in the final period to close the game out 77-7.

The Bulldogs had 4 backs over 45 yards of rushing for 280 on the game and 5 rushing touchdowns. Freshman tailback Ce'Juwon McFerrin (Kalamazoo, MI) led the way with 3 touchdowns on 9 carries for 58 yards. Junior QB Brandon Miller (Rochester Hills, MI) racked up 320 yards passing, going 16-23 and connecting on 4 TD passes.

Husson's defense was led by Kyle Vanidestine (Bangor, ME) who had 10 solo tackles and 4 assists on the night for the Eagles. Keezer finished the game with and even 100 yards passing, two of them found first year TE Caleb King (Cumberland, ME) who finished with 37 yards to lead the Eagle receivers.

Head Coach Sean Murphy talked about his team's performance after the game, "Adrian was a very good team. From a talent perspective, I think they're the best team we've seen since I've been here. We have a very young team, and our youth and inexperience showed out there tonight. We made quite a few mistakes, but we'll correct those over the next couple weeks and be ready to come back and play better in our next game."

Husson has a bye week next week, before returning to action on September 17th when the travel to Springfield, MA to take on the Springfield College Panthers at 1:00pm. Adrian plays again next Saturday when they travel to Defiance College for a 1:30 kickoff.
