Wilson Leads Big Blue Past Greenville 27-17

            Millikin University's Dion Wilson rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Big Blue past Greenville College 27-17 at Frank M. Lindsay Field on Sept. 25.

Millikin is now 3-0 and Greenville goes to 1-3. 

            It was the second time this season Wilson has rushed for over 200 yards.  In three games this season, Wilson has gained 638 yards.  Wilson averaged over 10 yards per carry and also had four catches for 30 yards.  Wilson entered the game as the NCAA Division III leading rusher.

            Wilson opened the scoring for the Big Blue on its first possession when he scored on a 66 yard run. 

            After that runs the rest of the first half became a battle of the kickers.  Millikin would take a 10-0 advantage on a 36 yard field goal by Chris Hunt.  Early in the second quarter, Greenville's Luis Diaz kicked a 21 yard field goal to make it 10-3 Millikin.  On Millikin's next possession, Hunt blasted a 52 yard field goal to make it 13-3 Big Blue.

It was Greenville's turn on its next possession as Diaz connected from 36 yards out to make it 13-6 Millikin with the advantage.       

            The second half scoring continued to star the kickers as Diaz hit his third field goal this time from 33 yards to make it a 13-9 game.

            The next score in the game came early in the fourth quarter when Wilson decided to turn seal the game for the Big Blue.  On the first play of the quarter, Wilson scored from three yards out to make it 20-9, Millikin.

            Greenville's Anthony Ambers made things interesting when he scored on a 52 yard run to pull the Panthers to 20-17 after the Ambers two-point conversion run.

            Wilson wouldn't be outdone as on Millikin's next possession.  On the first play Wilson gained 10 yards and then he scored on the next play on a 70 yard touchdown run to make it 27-17.

            Luke Hockaday was 11-17 passing for Millikin for 118 yards.  Derrick Morgan had two catches for 54 yards to lead the Big Blue receivers.

            Ambers had an impressive day rushing himself for Greenville gains 176 yards on 24 carries.  Joel Lira rushed for 53 yards and was 6-13 passing for 32 yards and two interceptions.

            Millikin's top tackler was Keith Burczak with eight. Cody Acree had six tackles and one interception.  Darrell Mitchell had the other Millikin interception and one pass break-up. 

            Greenville's top tackler was Andy Lozano with nine.  Joel Deayon had seven tackles including two sacks.

            Millikin opens CCIW play next week when it host Augustana at 1 p.m.
