Athletic director Lance Marshall has announced a leadership transition in the Franklin football program.
Alan Hensell has departed as head football coach after five seasons. Hensell, a 2005 Franklin graduate, took the helm of the football program after the 2019 season. During his tenure, he led the team to a 21-26 record.
Hensell followed Mike Leonard, the long-time Franklin coach for whom Hensell played. Franklin finished 3-7 this past season. The Grizzlies last defeated archrival Hanover for the Victory Bell trophy in 2021.
“We want to thank Coach Hensell for all of his hard work and dedication as head coach at his alma mater,” said Marshall. “He represented Franklin College with the utmost professionalism, integrity and dedication. We are grateful for all of his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
The college will immediately launch a nationwide search for a new head coach to lead the football program.
