BEVERLY, Mass. -- In front of an electric home crowd on a Friday night, Endicott picked up what is easily the biggest win in program history, as the Gulls took it to No. 5 Hardin-Simmons on Sept. 22, 2023, dominating the Cowboys 37-10 in a game that wasn't even as close as the score.
Endicott picked up its first win against a nationally ranked team behind a strong quarterback-wide receiver connection and four takeways, including four interceptions.
Gaylon Glynn, the starting quarterback for the Cowboys (2-1), was injured on the first series of the game, hobbled through another quarter-plus, and finally was relieved after completing just six of 12 passes for 30 yards. His interception set up an Endicott field goal that got the Gulls (3-1) on the board for the first time with 26 seconds left in the first quarter.
From there, Endicott scored thanks to big passes from Clayton Marengi to Shane Aylward, including two catches for 48 yards for the team's first touchdown drive, and a ball over the middle where Aylward found a seam and ran it in for a 51-yard score.

Hardin-Simmons answered that second touchdown with a bruising 14-play, 58-yard drive behind backup quarterback A.J. Hawkins, but the Cowboys wasted a first-and-goal from the 3 as the Cowboys picked up a holding call, then fumbled a snap, and had to settle for a 23-yard field goal from Bearden Grayson. Hardin-Simmons went to the halftime locker room down 17-3.
HSU got a stop to open the second half, but Matthew Licciardi forced a fumble at the HSU 46-yard line. Aylward hit Adam Goodfellow for a 28-yard pass on a trick play to get the team inside the 10 and AJ Caggianelli ran it in from there to make it 24-3.
From there, Colin Campbell intercepted a pass and returned it down to the 5 and it was soon 30-3. Corey Monteiro intercepted a pass and returned it to the 18 to help the Gulls get to 37-3 before HSU scored a TD in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
The Gulls held Hardin-Simmons to season-lows for points (10), rushing yards (176), passing yards (91), and total offense (267).
Defensively, Endicott dominated the line of scrimmage by wreaking havoc in the backfield all night.
Four student-athletes recorded a tackle for a loss – highlighted by Michael LeFebre's first career sack of 15 yards – and six quarterback hurries as a unit.
Offensively, Aylward showed out with four catches for 111 yards and two scores.
LeFebre finished with five tackles (one sack) along with his eighth career interception. Zachariah Twardosky produced a game-high 10 tackles (eight solo, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery). Licciardi filled the stat sheet defensively with five tackles (four solo), one forced fumble, a pass breakup, and tied for the team-high with two quarterback hurries.
