Framingham State offensive coordinator Aynsley Rosenbaum has been named head coach of the Rams football program as announced by FSU athletic director Tom Kelley. Rosenbaum assumed head coaching duties on Jan. 19.

Rosenbaum, who is also an FSU alumnus and former football player, takes over the reigns of the Rams football program from Tom Kelley who retired from coaching last week. "After 13 seasons as the head coach, it is time for me to step away from coaching and leave the program in the capable hands of Coach Rosenbaum who I know will continue to carry on the tradition of Rams football," said Kelley.

Rosenbaum has been the Rams offensive coordinator for the past 12 seasons and joined the Rams athletic department as a full-time staff member in 2014. In 2017 he was promoted to the role of assistant athletic director overseeing the Rams club sport program and serving as the department's recruiting coordinator.

During Rosenbaum's 12 seasons on the sideline the Rams have won nine conference championships, made five appearances in the NCAA Division III playoffs and won four bowl games.

"I'm honored to take over at my alma mater as its head football coach and follow in the footsteps of Tom Kelley, my mentor and friend," said Rosenbaum. "Framingham is a special place with people I truly care about and I look forward to continuing relationships with players, administration, and alumni."

"I cannot express how grateful I am to have been the head coach of the football program at Framingham State for the past 13 seasons. As a former player, I could not be more proud of our teams and all the fine student-athletes who have come through the program," said Kelley. "I was lucky to be surrounded by great coaches on our staff throughout the years that helped lead our teams to so much success. At this point it is time for me to step away from coaching with the program sitting in a great spot coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. It's time to put the horse in the barn."

Kelley posted an overall record of 107-59-1 in two seasons as the Rams head football coach.

Rosenbaum's offenses have led the MASCAC in points (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015), rushing (2019, 2017), rushing touchdowns (2018, 2017, 2016), total offense (2019, 2017, 2014, 2013) and passing touchdowns (2019, 2014). Rosenbaum's offenses have featured the university's first four single season 1,000 yard rushers and first single season 1,000 yard receiver. His offenses have featured three conference Offensive Players of the Year, five Offensive Lineman of the Year and four conference Offensive Rookies of the Year.

"Coach Rosenbaum has played a critical role in our football program for more than a decade" said president Javier Cevallos. "He is an outstanding coach and recruiter, who our student athletes look up to. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to lead the program moving forward. The future of FSU football is bright in his hands."

In 2013 Rosenbaum was honored by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston as the Division II/III Assistant Coach of the Year.
