St. Scholastica head football coach Kurt Ramler announced his resignation on Tuesday, Jan. 16, to pursue other opportunities.
Ramler is coming off his fourth season as the school's second-ever head football coach. He accumulated an overall record of 33-9 in those four seasons after taking over for the retired Greg Carlson following the 2013 season.
Ramler went 32-4 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play, capturing two league titles (2014 and 2015) and leading the Saints to two NCAA Division III playoff appearances in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, he guided St. Scholastica to its second-ever undefeated regular season. He had previously spent six seasons as head coach at Carleton, going 22-38.
"We would like to thank Kurt for his service and dedication to our football program and The College of St. Scholastica the past four seasons and we wish him the best moving forward," said St. Scholastica athletic director Brian Jamros.
Ramler was named the UMAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and coached six UMAC Players of the Year. The Saints had 33 First Team All-UMAC performers under Ramler and 54 Academic All-UMAC honorees. He also coached three First Team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans and six Academic All-District recipients.
Jamros has named associate head coach George Penree as the interim coach for the upcoming season. A national search for a permanent head coach will take place following the 2018 season.
