Mount Union starting quarterback D'Angelo Fulford was arrested just outside Alliance, Ohio, and was being held in Stark County jail, according to News 5, Cleveland's ABC station.

According to Stark County records, Fulford posted bond on Friday in the amount of $5,000. The court granted a waiver of extradition.

"The University has been made aware of the legal matter involving D'Angelo Fulford, which stems from an alleged incident dating back to the summer of 2015, when he was a high school senior in Miramar, Florida," a statement provided by the university said. "While this matter works its way through the legal process, his status as an enrolled student and member of the football team remains unchanged."

Fulford, a sophomore, has been the starter all season and leads Division III in completion percentage, completing 72 percent of his passes, as well as in touchdown passes, yards per pass attempt and passer rating. According to multiple published reports, there was an oustanding warrant for his arrest based on charges of felony battery from when Fulford was a juvenile. He is required to appear in court in Florida on Dec. 20. Mount Union's fall semester final exams end Dec. 14, and the Stagg Bowl is on Friday, Dec. 15.

Luke Poorman is the No. 2 quarterback on the depth chart for Mount Union. Also a sophomore, he played during the first half of the 2016 season before getting injured and has appeared in most of the team's games this season as a backup, completing 16 of 22 passes.

A university official would not comment on who would start at quarterback for the Purple Raiders in their first-round playoff game Saturday vs. Washington & Lee.
