Alex Tanney has been working for five years to get a shot to play quarterback in an NFL regular season game and that chance finally came on Sunday. The former Monmouth quarterback, a two-time D3football.com All-America selection, played for the Tennessee Titans in their 30-24 loss to Indianapolis.

It's Tanney's second stint with the Titans this season and his career transactions list include signings from seven different teams. He spent time with the Buffalo Bills earlier this season as well as the Indianapolis Colts before returning to Tennessee, where he spent time last season.

On Sunday, Tanney went 10-for-14 passing for 99 yards and a touchdown, getting sacked three times.

"I've been around the scout team here for 10 or 11 weeks, so it was fun," Tanney said after the game. "It was just like I was back out there at practice battling against those guys."

Tanney's last big moment in the NFL was probably in the 2013 preseason, where he played a half of the Hall of Fame game as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.

He played well enough to make the Titans competitive, but not enough to cost the team the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
