2023 D3football.com All-Region 1 Team

Trinity (Conn.) athletics; Endicott athletics

Endicott defensive tackle Colin Meropoulos and Trinity (Conn.) quarterback Spencer Fetter lead the D3football.com 2023 All-Region 1 team. Meropoulos was named Region 1 Defensive Player of the Year, while Fetter was named the Region 1 Offensive Player of the Year.

Endicott coach Paul McGonagle, who led the Gulls to the NCAA playoffs for the third consecutive season, is the Region 1 Coach of the Year.

NCAA Division III realigned Division III football into six regions in 2021. Region 1 includes the Commonwealth Coast Conference, Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, Middle Atlantic Conference, New England Small College Athletic Conference, New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference.

Fetter, a senior from Winter Park, Florida, completed 63.4% of his passes for the Bantams, going 185-for-292 with three interceptions. He threw for 2,567 yards and 32 touchdowns in Trinity’s nine-game season, helping the Bantams finish with an 8-1 record.

Meropoulos, a senior from Monroe, Connecticut, led the Gulls (9-2) with 10 tackles for loss and four sacks, while also forcing two fumbles. He finished with 44 tackles, 17 solo, as Endicott advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

The teams, selected in balloting by Region 1 sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 210 nominations by full Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 15, in D3football.com’s pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl 50.
