    It was a back-and-forth battle all afternoon long between two of the premier NESCAC programs that came down to the final minute until a Mike Rowan '25 strip sack sealed a 24-21 win for the Wesleyan football team in its home opener. The Cardinals (2-0) are one of three lone remaining unbeaten teams in the NESCAC, joining Trinity and Bowdoin, while Middlebury falls back to 1-1.

    Wesleyan University grad student running back Shea Dwyer rushed 27 times for 164 yards to become the single-season rushing leader at Wesleyan as he helped the Cardinals defeat visiting Bowdoin College here this afternoon, 41-7. The 34-point margin of victory matched the second-largest in the in the 83-year history of the series which dates back to 1906. Only the 39-0 win by Wesleyan in 1966 represented a greater scoring difference.

    WATERVILLE, Maine --- Shea Dwyer (Marlborough, Conn.) broke the Wesleyan University single-game rushing record for the second week in a row after finishing with 255 yards on 31 carries in the Cardinals’ 27-20 win over Colby College on Saturday at Seaverns Field at Harold Alfond Stadium.

    Wesleyan running back Shea Dwyer, a grad student, rushed 27 times for a Wesleyan-record 213 yards and scored all five Wesleyan TDs, four of them on the ground and one on a reception, to carry the Cardinals to a 35-21 home victory over Hamilton here this afternoon. Wesleyan evened its record at 1-1 on the season and defeated Hamilton for the first time since 2007. Hamilton fell to 0-2 on the season. Wesleyan visits Colby for its next outing Sat., Oct. 9 while Hamilton hosts Trinity the same day.
