Johns Hopkins rolled out to a big lead before cruising to a road win at Salisbury, while Delaware Valley, Mount Union, and Muhlenberg all won comfortably the latter two posting shutouts in their first-round games of the 2021 Division III football playoffs on Nov. 20.

This recap covers games in the bottom right-hand bracket, or the Mount Union bracket. Johns Hopkins will advance to play at Mount Union in the second round on Nov. 27, while Muhlenberg and Delaware Valley will meet in a game that is expected to be played at Delaware Valley. Sites will be announced on Sunday.

No. 17 Johns Hopkins jumped out to a 35-7 first half lead and never looked back in a 45-20 win at No. 12 Salisbury. The Blue Jays watched the Sea Gulls take the opening kickoff and march 75 yards on just four plays to grab a quick 7-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. Salisbury gained more than 18 yards on three of the four plays on the drive with Hunter Cleaver covering the final 30 yards to give SU the early lead. But by the team Salisbury (8-2) scored again, the Blue Jays had scored 35 in a row to put the game out of reach. JHU (10-1) rolled up 364 yards of total offense on just 31 plays in the first half alone.

Danny Wolf ran for first-half touchdowns of 6 and 30 yards and Ryan Stevens threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the win. Harrison Wellmann had the big numbers on the receiving end for the Blue Jays, with five catches for 141 yards and three scores.

Braxton Plunk completed 27 of 37 passes for 368 yards and five touchdown passes over the first three quarters as Mount Union rolled past Washington & Lee 52-0. The Generals (8-3) averaged 323 yards per game on the ground with their triple option attack coming in, but were held to 35 yards on 35 carries by the Purple Raiders (11-0).

Plunk found Derrick Harvey, Jr. for a season-best 137 yards on eight catches with two touchdowns. Wayne Ruby caught two touchdowns and Tyrell Sanders hauled down another in the win. Josh Breece was limited to 21 yards on 11 carries for W&L.

Anna Maria scored first in its first trip to the Division III playoffs, but Delaware Valley scored often, and the Aggies defeated the AMCATS 62-10. After Justin McMillian returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a score, DelVal scored 21 straight points and took a 27-10 halftime lead to the locker room. Anna Maria tried an onside kick to start the second half, but the Aggies recovered and went 35 yards in 4:15 to put the game away. Daquan Bohannan ran for two touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns and Jamir Prevard picked off three passes.

In addition to Prevard's three picks, the Aggies (11-0) also got a big defensive performance from Yusuf Aladinov (two and a half tackles for loss, one sack). The Aggies racked up 10 tackles for loss on the afternoon.

Michael Hnatkowsky threw for four touchdowns and Muhlenberg picked off Framingham State three times as the Mules rolled past the Rams 45-0. Framingham (8-3) got as close as the Muhlenberg 11 but was called for holding and delay of game and ended up facing a fourth-and-25 from the Muhlenberg 26. Matt Papa blocked the 44-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter and the Rams never got any closer to getting points on the board.
