St. John's kept itself in line for an at-large bid, while Delaware Valley and RPI won their way into the playoffs and Case Western Reserve got a miraculous finish to remain unbeaten in Saturday's Week 11 Division III football action.

Case Western Reserve seemed to be all but dead, with Carnegie Mellon taking knees in the closing seconds. But the Tartans were called for an unsportsmanlike penalty, stopping the clock and forcing a punt, which Case blocked and returned for a touchdown to take a 34-31 lead with under 30 seconds left. Instead of kicking it deep, however, Case squib kicked it, and Carnegie Mellon's Tyler Kohman converted a 43-yard field goal to tie it at the end of regulation.

Case started overtime with a touchdown pass from Rob Cuda to Justin Phan, converting a fourth down on the drive, and Carnegie Mellon finished a yard short on and fourth-and-4 from the Case 9 to end the game. Case won 41-34, remaining unbeaten and in line for an at-large bid to the playoffs. (With both Washington & Jefferson and Case finishing the season unbeaten, W&J won the conference tiebreaker.)

After a scoreless first half, St. John's scored twice in the third quarter and turned the game over to its defense, and its punter, in a 10-3 win vs. Concordia-Moorhead. The win moved the Johnnies to 9-1, virtually assuring them of a playoff bid, while the Cobbers fell to 8-2. St. John's scored on the first two drives of the third quarter, including a fourth-down TD pass from Jackson Erdmann to Dan Harrington, and the Cobbers took over on the 41 after a short punt and kicked a 35-yard field goal. But Johnnies punter Naufahu Anitoni had a fourth quarter for the ages, pinning Concordia on its 1-, 2- and 6-yard lines, burying the Cobbers deep.

Frostburg State needed two overtimes to remain alive, as the Bobcats survived a rivalry game at Salisbury, 14-7. The Bobcats limited the prolific Sea Gull rushing offense to 4.4 yards per carry and 262 yards of total offense, while Connor Cox was able to find Christian DiPaola in the end zone on the second play of the the second extra session. Salisbury fumbled the ball on its second play in the extra session to end the game. Frostburg improved to 9-1 with the win, assuring it will at least get to the table in the playoff selection discussion.

Wabash did the North Region committee a solid and gave all at-large contenders a little more breathing room. The Little Giants knocked DePauw out of the playoff running, taking the Monon Bell back in the process of a 22-21 win. DePauw fumbled a punt return deep in its own territory, and Wabash's Ike James scored on a 5-yard touchdown run one play later. Weston Murphy's pass to Kirby Cox for the two-point conversion gave the Little Giants (8-2) the lead. DePauw got as far as the Wabash 11 on its next possession but Ryan Walter forced a fumble, which Wabash recovered.

Mount Union was held to a season low and gave up a season high, but it was still enough to get the No. 2 Purple Raiders past John Carroll. The teams entered the fourth quarter tied at 24-24 after the Blue Streaks (6-3) rallied from 10 points down. But Danny Robinson intercepted JCU quarterback Anthony Moeglin to set the Purple Raiders up in Blue Streak territory and DeAngelo Fulford ended the drive with a 25-yard TD pass to Braeden Friss to give Mount Union a 31-24 lead with 11:00 left in the game. John Carroll answered with a field goal to cut the lead to four and later converted one fourth down on its final possession but Moeglin was sacked twice in three plays to end the threat.

After falling behind for the first time all season, Delaware Valley outscored Widener 47-6 the rest of the way and sailed to a 47-13 win over the Pride, clinching the automatic bid for the MAC. Widener scored on its first two possessions but the Aggies’ rally started immediately when Sammy Mogel returned a blocked PAT for two points to cut the Pride lead to 13-8. Del Val’s defense and quarterback DaShawn Darden took over from there. Darden ran for 133 yards and four touchdowns and threw one more as the Aggies rolled up 382 yards rushing. Delaware Valley intercepted Widener four times with Shawn Miller tallying two including a pick-six.

Monmouth and St. Norbert took their defensive battle all the way into overtime, where the Green Knights kicked a field goal and the Scots answered with a touchdown for a 9-6 win in the Midwest Conference title game.

No. 9 North Central finished off the CCIW's automatic bid, defeating Elmhurst 49-7. Meanwhile, Illinois Wesleyan remained in contention for an at-large bid, defating Millikin 31-6, and if Wheaton gets to the board for consideration, the Thunder didn't eliminate themselves, defeating Carroll 71-0.

Jason Hellwig didn't throw for a touchdown for Brockport but he ran for a touchdown and caught a TD pass as the No. 10 Golden Eagles defeated St. Lawrence 28-7. Brockport was playing without No. 1 quarterback Joe Germinerio, who was leveled by a hit late in last week's game vs. Alfred. Without star quarterback Michael Whitley, Lakeland had little trouble defeating Rockford as backup Jonathan Hagerty completed 30 of 39 passes for 244 yards and six TD in a 57-31 win. Mason Kinsey made a one-handed catch in tight coverage early in the fourth quarter and Berry made it stand up as the No. 17 Vikings edged Trinity (Texas) 24-21 to go into the playoffs unbeaten.

St. Thomas led 64-0 at the half and cruised to a 97-0 win at St. Olaf to close the regular season. Six players scored rushing touchdowns for the Tommies, as Josh Parks had a team-high nine carries for 115 yards and two scores. Eleven Tommies got carries in the win. The win is one point shy of the highest point total in Division III this season, scored by rival St. John's in Week 1.
