East Texas Baptist announced the resignation of head coach Mark
Sartain today. Sartain was the second football coach at ETBU since
the sport was brought back after a 50-year absence.
“We appreciate what Mark brought to our program with his
strong Christian leadership,” stated athletic director Kent
Reeves. The Tigers were 3-7 overall, 2-5 in the American Southwest
Conference this season.
During Sartain's six seasons at ETBU, the football program
played its first night home game but did not have a winning season.
His overall record was 26-34. ETBU will begin their search for the
new head coach immediately.
“We understand the urgency in securing a new head coach
quickly,” stated Reeves. “However, we will take
the time necessary to make sure we secure the man which God has
chosen for this position.”
