Mark Sartain, ETBU athletics photo East Texas Baptist announced the resignation of head coach Mark Sartain today. Sartain was the second football coach at ETBU since the sport was brought back after a 50-year absence.

“We appreciate what Mark brought to our program with his strong Christian leadership,” stated athletic director Kent Reeves. The Tigers were 3-7 overall, 2-5 in the American Southwest Conference this season.

During Sartain's six seasons at ETBU, the football program played its first night home game but did not have a winning season. His overall record was 26-34. ETBU will begin their search for the new head coach immediately.

“We understand the urgency in securing a new head coach quickly,” stated Reeves.  “However, we will take the time necessary to make sure we secure the man which God has chosen for this position.”
