BALTIMORE, MD – Dan Wodicka, the James F. Margraff head coach of football at Johns Hopkins, announced today that five individuals have been elected to serve as team captains during the upcoming 2024 season. The five include two second-year selections in seniors Garrett Brophy (OL) and Bay Harvey (QB) and three first-time selections in graduate student Will Leger (TE) and seniors Oliver Craddock (LB) and Cole Peters (LB).
Below is a quick look at the 2024 Johns Hopkins football captains.
Garrett Brophy (Sr. • OL)
Of Note: Second-year co-captain. Three-year starter who will be one of the top returning guards in the nation in 2024. Has been named to the All-Centennial Team in each of his three seasons with a first team nod in 2022 and second team selections in 2021 and 2023. Also earned Second Team D3football.com All-Region honors as a sophomore in 2022. Has a chance to become just the fifth player – and second offensive lineman – in school history to earn All-Centennial honors four times.
Oliver Craddock (Sr. • LB)
Of Note: Joined Cole Peters as a first-time starter at linebacker in 2023 and earned Second Team All-Centennial Conference honors. Finished second on the team in tackles (78) and added 3.0 tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions and two pass breakups. Tied for the team-lead in interceptions with his three on the year. Has played in 31 games and counts 110 career tackles to his credit.
Bay Harvey (Sr. • QB)
Of Note: Enjoyed outstanding first year as a starter in 2023 as he earned Second Team All-Centennial and Third Team D3football.com All-Region honors. Was 250-of-362 (.691) for 3,297 yards with 36 touchdowns against eight interceptions in 2023 and was also second on the team in rushing (627) and led the team with 10 rushing touchdowns. Set school records for overall touchdowns (46), passing touchdowns (36) and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback (10). Was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team last season.
Will Leger (Gr. • TE)
Of Note: Emerged as one of the top tight ends in the nation last season as he was a Third Team D3football.com All-American and grabbed First Team D3football.com All-Region and First Team All-Centennial honors. Rang up 24 receptions for 419 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023. The 12 touchdowns were a JHU single-season record for a tight end and tied for the fifth-best total overall.
Cole Peters (Sr. • LB)
Of Note: Enjoyed a strong first season as a starter in 2023 as he was a Second Team D3football.com All-Region selection and a First Team All-Centennial honoree. Led the team in tackles (85), tied for team-lead in interceptions (3) and added 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and three pass breakups last season. Was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team last season.
Johns Hopkins will open the 2024 season on Saturday, September 7 when the Blue Jays travel to Ithaca to take on the Bombers in Wodicka's first game as the head coach at Johns Hopkins. Ithaca posted a 9-3 record, won the Liberty League title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs last season.
