Bison Fall on Senior Day, 61-31

DUDLEY, Mass. (11/11/23) – The Nichols College football team dropped their final game of the season at the hands of the Eagles of Husson University by a final score of 61-31 from Vendetti Field on Saturday. With the loss the Bison finish with a 3-7 record overall.

The Bison honored their 14 seniors at the beginning of today's game. Seniors Keegan ChoateRiver JacksonDavid HardingTopher RyanZahir BookerXavier PowellMike MaslauskasJoshua VittiDante BarbozaJoshua SayerMason DavidDante ParseghianVincent Mallozzi, and Jaden Martin.

On the offensive side of the ball Powell went 31-45 with 366 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Vitti had an excellent final game for the Bison catching eight balls for 115 yards. Junior Jack Morvan continued his impressive junior season with four catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Booker once again carried the load for the Bison rushing for 115 yards and two scores for Nichols.

On the defensive side sophomore Gary Alexis totaled 8 solo tackles to lead all Bison and classmate Garrhet Manning recorded four solo tackles and six assisted tackles for the team lead of 10 total tackles. Freshman Jonathon Ferrara recorded two interceptions in the game for the Bison.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and took that lead into the second quarter where they added their third touchdown of the game for a 21-0 lead. Nichols answered back with a touchdown of their own. Booker caped off a 79-yard seven play drive with an 11-yard rush for a touchdown. Nichols trailed 21-7 with 4:40 remaining in the half.

Husson found the endzone a minute later to take a 28-7 lead into the half. The Eagles then scored to open the second half, but a blocked extra point and a return by Alexis made it 34-9. Nichols scored again, this time Powell and Morvan hooked up for a 22-yards making it 34-16.

Husson scored once again to maintain their lead, but Nichols responded again, with Booker hammering in a one-yard touchdown for his second one of the afternoon. With the Bison trailing 61-23, Powell and Morvan connected once again with 10 seconds remaining in the game to make it 61-31 the final.

With the loss the Bison season comes to an end. Nichols finished with a 3-7 overall record and went 0-5 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.
