Today's Contest
This the final regular season and Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it travels to Alliance to take on No. 2 nationally ranked and defending OAC Champion University of Mount Union inside Kehres Stadium.  BW used a 10-point fourth quarter for a 24-21 comeback victory over Heidelberg University last Saturday in Berea on Seniors' Day.  Mount Union remained undefeated as it knocked off No. 13 nationally ranked John Carroll University by a final score of 49-14 last Saturday in University Heights. 

The Series
BW and Mount Union have met 60 times on the gridiron.  The Purple Raiders lead the all-time series by a margin of 38-21-1, including winning the last 27 contests. The series began in 1896 as the Yellow Jackets posted a 10-0 victory in Alliance.  The last BW win came in 1994 when it knocked off Mount Union by a final score of 23-10 in Alliance.  The last Yellow Jacket victory in Berea was in 1991, which also was the last time the Purple Raiders lost an OAC road game as BW won by a final score of 21-18.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his seventh season at BW and has a record of 42-18 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 35-17. He is 109-45 in his 15th overall season.  Hilvert is 0-5 all-time versus Mount Union. 

Mount Union Head Coach Geoff Dartt
Dartt is in his fourth season at Mount Union and has a career record of 40-2 and an OAC record of 30-0.  He is 3-0 against Baldwin Wallace as the Yellow Jackets and Purple Raiders did not play in the COVID-19 shortened season of 2021 spring. 

Last Game vs. Mount Union-- November 10, 2022
BW scored 21 fourth quarter points and held a 21-17 lead after graduated quarterback Reese Wamer scored on a 1-yard run and graduated kicker Dean Sarris hit the extra point with 22 seconds remaining. Mount Union senior All-American wide receiver Wayne Ruby, Jr. caught the game-winning 48-yard touchdown from senior All-American quarterback Braxton Plunk as time expired for the 23-21 victory.  The Yellow Jackets scored 21 points on 241 yards passing and 95 yards rushing for 336 total yards.  The Purple Raiders scored 23 points on 281 yards passing and 149 yards rushing for 430 total yards.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week nine of the season, BW scored 24, including the game-winning 27-yard field goal from freshman kicker Joseph Evans (Chardon) with 3:03 left to play, on 220 yards rushing and 74 yards passing for 294 total yards.  Heidelberg scored all 21 of its points in the first half on 228 yards rushing and 111 yards passing for 339 total yards. 

BW Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) has completed 114-of-195 passes for an OAC seventh best 1,431 yards with 13 touchdowns. Junior running back Victor Ford, Jr. (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) leads the ground game with an OAC fourth best 630 yards on 101 carries with an OAC fifth best tying seven touchdowns.  Freshman running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) has rushed for an OAC fifth best 569 yards on 112 carries with and OAC best tying seven touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Tim Conwell (Avon) has caught 25 passes for 256 yards with three touchdowns. Defensively, senior All-OAC linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla./South Walton) leads the team with a n OAC sixth best and career-high 83 tackles. Freshman defensive back Marquee Vereen (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Technical) is tied for the OAC lead with 10 pass breakups.

Scouting the Purple Raiders
In week nine of the season, Mount Union scored 49 points on 281 yards passing and 189 yards rushing for 470 total yards.  John Carroll scored 14 points on 306 yards passing and 39 yards rushing for 345 total yards

Mount Union Leaders
Offensively, Plunk has completed 172-of-231 passes for an OAC third best 2,100 yards with an OAC second best tying 25 touchdowns and an NCAA 15th lowest tying three interceptions.  Junior running back Darnell Williams has rushed for an OAC fifth best 595 yards on 65 carries with six touchdowns. Ruby has caught 46 passes for an OAC second best 771 yards with an OAC second best 11 touchdowns. Defensively, senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Mason McMillen leads the team with an OAC 10th best 75 tackles
