Today's Contest
This the ninth and final home game of the 2023 season and eighth Ohio Athletic Conference game for the Baldwin Wallace University football team as it hosts Heidelberg University on Seniors' Day. BW defeated Capital University by a final score of 59-35 last Saturday at home. Heidelberg defeated Wilmington College by a final score of 49-35 in Tiffin.

Seniors' Day
Prior to the game, the University will honor its 19 football senior student-athletes and their parents and guardians.   During a halftime presentation, the University, will honor its senior members of the marching band and cheer team.

The Series
BW has faced Heidelberg more times on the gridiron than any other opponent as the teams have played 75 games.  The Yellow Jackets hold an 51-24 all-time series lead. The series began in 1897 when BW won by a final score of 10-0 in Berea.

BW Head Coach Jim Hilvert
Hilvert is in his seventh  season at BW and has a record of 41-19 and Ohio Athletic Conference slate of 45-17. He is 108-45 in his 15th overall season.   Hilvert is 5-0 all-time  versus Heidelberg.

Heidelberg Head Coach Scott Donaldson 
Donaldson is in his eighth season at Heidelberg and has an overall record of 47-25 and an OAC mark of 41-24.  He is 1-5 vs. Baldwin Wallace as the Yellow Jackets and Student Princes did not play in the COVID-19 shortened season of 2021 spring.

Last Game vs. Heidelberg-- November 5,  2022
BW's Dean Sarris kicked a 35-yard field goal with 20 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game at 13-13.  Heidelberg scored first in overtime and kicked the extra point.  The Yellow Jackets scored on an 11-yard pass to wide receiver Tim Conwell (Avon) from quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) to knot things at 20 before wide receiver Elijah Arnett (Akron/Woodridge) caught the game-winning two-point conversion from Marousek.  BW had 197 yards passing and 106 yards rushing for 303 total yards. The Student Princes had 239 yards rushing, 76 yards passing and 315 total yards.

Scouting the Yellow Jackets
In week eight of the season, BW scored 59 points on a season-high 429  yards rushing and 249 yards passing for a season-high 670  total yards.  Capital scored 35 points on 296 yards passing and  63 yards  rushing for 359 total yards.

BW Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Joey Marousek (North Royalton) has completed 114-of-195 passes for an OAC seventh best 1431 yards with 13 touchdowns. Junior  running back Victor Ford, Jr. (Cleveland/Shaker Heights) leads the ground game with an OAC fourth best 594 yards on 91 carries with an OAC fifth best seven touchdowns.  Freshman running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) has rushed for an OAC seventh best 487 yards on 96 carries with and OAC eighth best five touchdowns. wide receiver Tim Conwell (Avon) has caught 25 passes for 256 yards with three touchdowns. Defensively, senior All-OAC linebacker Mason Levasseur (Panama City, Fla./South Walton) leads the team and is tied for third in the OAC with a career-high 75 tackles. Freshman defensive back Marquee Vereen (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Technical) is tied for second in the OAC with a team leading nine pass breakups.

Scouting the Student Princes
In week eight of the season, Heidelberg scored 49 points on 261  yards passing and 216 yards rushing for 477 total yards. Wilmington scored 35 points on 302 yards passing and 59 yards rushing for 361 total yards.

Heidelberg Leaders
Offensively, senior quarterback Drew Sims has completed 72-of-121 passes for an OAC ninth 849 yards with six touchdowns in just four games.  Senior All-OAC running back  Montavious Yearby leads the OAC with 829 yards on a league high 180 carries with an OAC second tying eight touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Oliver Kelleher has caught 33 passes for an OAC ninth best 450 yards with two touchdowns. Defensively, senior All-OAC linebacker Easton St. Clair leads the team with 53 tackles.

Another Defensive Backs Signs Contract
Former All-OAC defensive back Robbie Williamson has become the second former Yellow Jacket defensive back to continue his football career professionally.  Williams signed this week with the Iowa Barnstormers of the Indoor Football League.  He joins defensive back Anthony Kendall, who is playing with the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League.
