Kazanowsky & White Lead RPI to Win at Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. - Jake Kazanowsky threw for 255 yards and two scores while also running for 60 yards and a touchdown to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) football team to a 38-27 victory over Dickinson College in the season opener for both programs. Also aiding RPI's victory was freshman Kayden White, who ran for 128 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries and junior Anthony D'Agostino, who paced the defense with eight tackles and two pass breakups.

A junior, Kazanowsky completed 19 of 31 passes with scoring strikes of two yards and 55 yards. His rushing yards came on 10 attempts with a one yard TD. RPI finished with 471 yards of offense on 64 plays, an average of 7.4 per attempt with White, a running back averaging 9.8 yards per carry. His first touchdown run was from a yard out in the third quarter to give the Engineers a 21-7 lead and his second was a 56 yard run to the right that he brought down the sideline to make it 38-21 with 2:41 to play in the fourth quarter.

A two-yard TD reception by Jimmy McGoey in the first quarter put the visitors ahead but the Red Devils answered with a 26-yard strike from Presley Egbers to Princeton Douglass just 15 seconds into the second quarter. Kazanowsky's run from a yard out with 37 seconds left in the half made it 14-7 before White notched the only scoring of the third quarter.

Jared Elstein booted a 31-yard field goal early in the fourth for a 24-7 edge but Dickinson's Diante Ball went in from a yard away to cut it to a 10-point game. Rensselaer countered under two minutes later when Hayden Faraday went 55 yards on a reception for a 31-14 lead. He finished with 10 catches for 144 yards.

Ball later scored from the two yard line with 3:55 to play and the Red Devils went in from a yard away at the final horn to conclude the scoring.

Ball had 75 yards and two touchdowns on 17 attempts with five receptions for 42 yards. Egbers was 23 of 49 for 255 yards and two TDs. He also ran for 36 yards.

A linebacker, D'Agostino had three solo tackles with Diego Fernandez matching that number. Fernandez, a defensive back, had six total stops, as did linebacker Desmond Von Tobel (4 solo). Dickinson's John Prochniak led all players with 13 tackles, including eight unassisted.
