McMurry announces All-Century gridiron squad

More news about: McMurry

As McMurry University continues its centennial celebration and moves toward honoring the All-Century group in October, McMurry University's Office of Athletic Communications will highlight a team within the overall list each week. This continues with football.

The All-Century gridiron Team is led by 23 members from the school's Hall of Honor annals. Coaches for the star-studded line-up are Spud Aldridge and Wilford Moore. Two of the winningest head coaches in program history, Moore's 46 victories stand second most with Aldridge's 36 directly behind Moore in third. Moore's 46-29-5 all-time mark comes out to a .639 winning percentage which is second-best at McMurry. Aldridge joins him as one of seven War Hawks head coaches to finish their careers at .500 or above.

Topping the team members are Jake Mullin '12 – Mullin became a household name during his Big Country time. A four-year team member, he was named the American Southwest Conference's Male Athlete of the Year following the 2009-10 academic year. Playing quarterback for the Maroon and White, Mullin earned the ASC's Player of the Year honor in 2011 as part of three all-league honors while also being tabbed an NCAA Division III All-American in 2011. Still a large presence among the program records where he is noted 23 times, Mullin is the program's all-time leader in career total (12,473) and passing (12,457) yardage among that glittering cadre of accomplishments.

Brad Rowland '51 – Still the War Hawks all-time ground-gaining leader (4,347 yards), Rowland, a standout in the late 1940s and early 1950s for McMurry, is also the career points (258), single-season rushing touchdowns (18) and single-season rushing yardage (1,279) top individual. He was a six-time all-America selection and was a charter member of the McMurry Athletics Hall of Honor in 1984. Rowland played his final season in 1950, establishing McMurry's career rushing record. The Hamlin, Texas native led the Texas Conference in rushing all four seasons and helped McMurry to three consecutive conference titles from 1947-1949.

Greg Livingston '15 – One of the program's all-time leading receivers, Livingston tallied 202 career catches and 2,523 receiving yards. The receptions are a school record while he is third in yardage. He was an honorable mention all-conference kick returner and a one-time National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association second-team All-American.

Chris Joseph '87/Colby Witt '06 – Two of the fiercest defensive scholar-athletes to come of the Big Country area, Joseph and Witt rank two-three in all-time tackles (379/344). Joseph's 167 tackles in 1986 are a school record as is Witt's 45 career tackles for losses and three sacks in a game. Joseph turned in two all-conference and NAIA All-American awards, and Witt was a three-time all-conference selection.
