McMurry University head football coach Jordan Neal and Vice President for Student Affairs and Intercollegiate Athletics Sam Ferguson have announced two new hirings and a promotion on the War Hawks football coaching staff.

Former defensive coordinator Will Snyder has been moved up to Associate Head Coach. Snyder begins his second season with the program in 2023.

Reed Collins and Matt Newby have recently joined the staff. Collins coaches the tight ends and running backs, while Newby leads the offensive line.

Collins had previously been a video coordinator, linebackers coach, and co-recruiting coordinator at Howard Payne University, his alma mater. He also starred on the gridiron for the Yellow Jackets as a five-time letter winner.

Since February 2016, Newby, a War Hawks football alum, had coached West Brook, Brentwood Christian, and St. Michael's Catholic high schools in Texas and Bolton and Oakdale high schools in Louisiana. Newby was also on McMurry's staff as an assistant offensive line coach from August 2015 to February 2016. He started 23 straight games for the Maroon and White on the gridiron from 2012 to 2014.
